# Import merchant contacts

Enrich merchant contact records without inventing installs or attribution.

## What you need

Authorized merchant contact data and owner access. CSV fields and privacy handling should match your source.

## Steps

1. Open **Developers → Import contacts**. Prepare CSV with a `shop_domain` column (aliases `domain` or `myshopify_domain` are supported) and known contact fields.
2. Include only fields you are authorized to send. Inspect invalid/empty rows before pasting the CSV.
3. Choose **Import contacts** and read imported/skipped counts; the importer normalizes/upserts usable rows rather than creating a second shop identity.
4. Open the intended customer record and verify its email/name/country/plan.
5. For MCP import, use [import_contacts](/docs/mcp/import-contacts) with its actual input schema and review the proposed rows before invoking it.

## Expected result

Merchant contact enrichment marked as import source. It does not create Shopify installs, subscriptions, app usage, affiliate referrals or payment receipts.

## CSV example

```csv
shop_domain,email,owner_name,country,shopify_plan
example.myshopify.com,merchant@example.com,Example Merchant,US,Basic
```

## Troubleshooting

A CSV with no usable domain yields an error. Check quoted fields, header names and permanent shop identity. Affiliate partner migration uses a different [preview/apply workflow](/docs/app-owners/imports-and-migration).
